What They Never Spoke of…

They never spoke of a growing mind;
Just growing bones and change of face
They never spoke of the pain,
The pressure,
The lack of freedom as you gain it

I will forever be blind;
My peace gone without a trace
I feel as though my efforts were in vain
I only wanted treasure,
I only wanted to fit,

I continue to be one-of-a-kind;
Hoping to find a place,
I will no longer let my fear take reign
I choose to what extent to measure
I’ll work on my maturity, bit by bit
