What We Had

Five years of learning time
A practice of patience and anger of mine
These mournful years, so full of tears
A shameful lie my life lived by
We seemed so right until we'd fight
Our hatefulness just is not right
We slander one anothers name
And criticised our mother's shame
What the hell is going on
Our cruelty is causing harm
A love this sad is truly wrong
The two of us just don't belong
You used to mean the world to me
Now you're just a memory
It hurts to say, yet very true,
I can not love someone like you
Now left alone to mend our hearts
The both of us have torn apart
You took my smile to a frawn
You kept me weak to knock me down
But still, you taught me all along
My broken heart has made me strong
I am not mad or even sad
Looking back I'm very glad
What we had is what we had
