What You Were and What Used to Be

You never looked back when you left
Never made a sound
Just stared at me with your starless eyes
Never leaving the ground

You meant everything to me
You still do
And I know for certain
That I meant something to you

For what were all those kisses
All those words that you used to whisper in my ear
For what happened to you holding me tight
Telling me that it would soon be alright

For what of all these things
Did they have no meaning
Did they have no soul
Did they not have enough
To make you stay

The answer I already know
For what was is not nor ever will be what is
As you leave me and enter the darkness below

This Poems Story

This poem was inspired by my aunt For she had been through so much When my uncle passed away. I wanted to find a way To express how one might feel On this very day.
