When Death Comes Knocking

By Da Poet

When Death Comes Knocking

It's so difficult to place into words,
the emotions which befall us.
Yet pondering the reasons why?

Always seemingly so untimely,
leaving pristine vivid memories,
and a paralyzing lost for verbs.

For us, no time is the right time,
but that time will surely come,
when that last breath leaves the body,
life's final race I hope you've won?

Physics as it applies to matter,
does it matter who lives or dies?
To be left with unanswered questions,
and a befuddled desperate cry.

No last words,
no last hugs,
no last kiss,
no last good-bye.

I've had this experience.
I've been to that dwelling place.
I've revisited it over and over.
My badge of courage was rescinded.

If you have faith you leave it to hope,
for there's a brighter day ahead.
There's a better life which awaits,
for those who follow the Golden Rules,
GOD's laws for which JESUS died and bled.
