When I am Alone in the woods

When I am alone in the woods

I feel the running water of the creek;

Cold and Crisp.

When I am alone in the woods

I smell the crispy, colorful leaves;

When I am alone in the woods

I smell the sweet, sticky, sap seeping from the pine trees;

When I am alone in the woods

I hear the wind howling at me

When I am alone in the woods.

The sticks tell me their time is up as they snap beneath my feet;

When I am alone in the woods

I see leaves falling in the wind

When I am alone in the woods

I see flowers breathing in the fresh air

After a long winter

The woods are my home

Nothing will change that

I feel safe and warm

Like a heater does on a wintry night

When I am alone in the woods
