When I Was Twelve

When I was twelve the world was filled with kindness and love.
When I was thirteen my body began to change,
And the world was looking bright.
When I was fourteen I thought I was in love,
I had my first boyfriend and we broke up instantly.
When I was fifteen high school was not like the movies,
It was a sad and lonely place.
When I was sixteen I grew into myself
I became a strong, fearless person.
When I was seventeen, I lost the love of my life,
And my cousin to an awful fight
When I was eighteen I started college and everything was in place
I knew exactly what I wanted.
Now I am nineteen I am lost and confused
I live in a world that has changed for the worse.
