When an adult hugs their mom,
It means so much to her,
It opens up her memory box
To times of yester-year.

It takes her back to days gone by
When you sat upon her lap,
She sang when bullies made you cry,
Till you had a peaceful nap.

And when she holds you close like that
Her days come back alive,
Remeb'ring when you fought them back,
When you were only five.

And now those bullies are long gone,
An' with mother on your knee,
Hug her tight and when she cries
Her tears will be for thee.
