When One Considers All the Ways America Has Been Made Great Again

Such frantic worry doesn’t work as far
as separating you from sordid sorts
all littered through your life. You know they are
the fog that tempts the ship away from port.
Our anxious efforts always come up short
of ever trudging forward. I have found
that puppet politicians who distort
the truth are not the plague. It’s the unbound…
nay, foul fascists who play for Putin’s fun.

We’re treading water, just not treading ground.
Perhaps I am just Dixie’s foster son.
