When She Was Little

When She Was Little

She slouched
So her doctor
Said to her:
“Think of a string attached
To the top of your head
Pulling you straight up,”
And he made as though
He held that string,
And pulled her straight
Strong and magnificent.

She couldn’t
Do it herself,
Still slouches
But she remembers
That doctor
And I do too.
