When the Clock Hits Zero

When the clock finally hits zero,
and the price is inevitably paid,
no one will remember the fallen heroes,
the ones that saw the nation being made.
All our historic advances, a wondrous technical gadget,
will soon be forgotten with the downfall of the planet.
The masterminds, and the geniuses behind it all,
their names will be lost, and no one will recall.
It is truly a melancholy reality,
one we must all someday face.
But have a positive mentality,
for we are the enduring human race.
