When Willows Whisper

When the willows whisper, it has to be silent
There mustn't be crackles nor crinkles
While the sounds fade like pleas into sinkholes
When the willows whisper, it is violent

What message does the wind bring
Why do you cry, why do you careen
While moments before you were so serene
Now you let your screams ring

I only wanted refuge, I only wanted rest
But the wind came and you began to fret
I'm starting to wish we'd never met
I only wanted refuge, I only wanted rest
