Where I Come from
I am from sitting in the stands on Friday night,
where I watched yellow Jackets defend their hive.
I am from waking up early on Saturdays
to go to new gyms for long competitions
all day long,
I am from going to the woods
with my brothers in search of
new adventures; where we went down trails
with four wheeled beasts
I am from long weeks at my
grandparents;
the smell of fresh pine and
late night bonfires.
Looking at the stars
under the moonlight
in amazement.
I am from long days at the beach
playing in the water and trying
not to rock the boat,
where we rode waves and played
Marco polo.
