Where I’m From

I am from horses,
From riding with the wind,
I am from new houses and old ones.
I'm from moving and staying,
From "living" and "letting live,"
I'm from staying true to who I am.

I'm from candy making and Bobbsey Twins,
From creating movies and plays,
I'm from being overwhelmed and exhausted,
To just trying to do my best.

I'm from reading under my blanket,
From writing poems and songs.
I'm from wishing, singing, laughing, hoping,
Never giving up.

Although my memories are buried,
In a house that's far away,
I am not from that house,
I am from where my heart is.
