Where I’m From

I’m from highlighted blonde hair
That blankets on top of brown
With a gargantuan goofy smile
And a meager gap in between
I’m from towering with broad shoulders
And carrying yourself with great pride
I am from strong and courageous
I’m from not good at goodbyes
I’m from buzzcuts and blue jeans
and gazing ocean blue eyes
I’m from midnight lake trips
and all nighters outside

I’m from blonde haired Summer trips
On the tepid Summer nights
The ones that make you forget
Simple little things like what your room looks like
Or what the houses on your street look like
I’m from a hot mess family
That always figures it out somehow
From early morning hunting to playing outside
From red dirt baseball to kelly green soccer

And That...
is where I’m from
