Where The Heart Is
Where the water rolls up onto the land,
The warming sun rises upon the horizon.
When the first green leaf appears in the tree tops,
Signaling the arrival of Spring.
Paddling upstream with lures lagging behind,
Mistaking snags in our lines for small bites.
That place in the air as you release yourself from the rope,
Dropping freely into that dirty green water we love.
The bright red ambers that fly from the fire,
Lighting your cigarette and turning to ash as they hit the dirt.
No matter what happens to us in this game called life,
These will be the places my heart will never forget...
where I will always remember and love you.
