Where Were You?

There are moments
When the world stops
The air grows cold
The sun stops shining
One of those days we look back on to ask
"Where were you?"
Because at that exact moment
When two towers burned to the ground
When the explosions ripped through that country
When the earth shuttered with sadness, or maybe rage
And lives were ruined, much more so than the houses
It mattered where we were, what we were doing
While some were working
or arguing about whose turn it was to take out the trash
Others were fleeing from destruction,
covered with the blood of their friends
And Maybe you saw it on a tv screen
Or maybe you got a front row seat
Whatever the case, you know you could never forget
The unbearable tragedy the world faced
It is in times like these
We raise our heads to the heavens to shout,
"Where were you?"
