While You’ve Slept

While you've slept...
I conquered the world again and again
Drifted among the moon and stars
Sat in silence, listening to the void
Faced the questions I fear during the day
Begged for forgiveness, from my other self
Watched your peaceful slumber with an envious heart
Demanded better, from myself and others
Explored a land only I can see
Descended into hell so that you may live
Cried out for everything I can never obtain

I repeat this each night
while you've slept
and you wonder why
I'm exhausted once you wake
