Who Am I To You?

Hold my hand just a little longer
while time begins to wander.
The sun is cruel as it burns my skin.
Will we ever be more than friends?

When I wake up, you'll be gone
but I'm used to being the lonely love song.
I am but a face in your life
so, "move on," is my only advice.

The world mocks my pain
as it pours buckets of rain.
I only ask for a chance
to see if we could have a romance.

However, that is not our story as we are just friends.
Just forget me or at least pretend.
Maybe the universe will hear my cries
as my feelings for you are buried inside.
