Who Was the Man?

Who was the man who died on the cross?
Who was the man who died on the cross?

Why was He chosen for a brutal death?
Why was He stabbed until no breath?

A man people hardly knew,
Who did what others could not do.

He allowed them to pierce His side,
His pain, His suffering did not stay inside.

The pain poured forth on hallowed ground,
In the form of water, without a sound.

His last mortal moment produced a tear,
As tormentors laughed, mocked, and cheered.

He lifted His face up to the sky,
And said, "Father, I do willingly die."

"I bow My head, and come back to You,
My tormentors, know not what they do."
