Why Do You Hate

Why such loathing in such little words
that make me to hate your beautiful and kind eyes
that spark you gave to me today
ignites a fire I wish I could quell.

Why do you hate and spit such inciting punches
to my face when I know you love me,
for now my bruises will not heal.

My bruised face, lovely once it was
now spites back in fear and in hate
such little words you could have held in

and vented it some other way.
No trust today,
just walk out the door

and perhaps one day I will leave you
in my dust.

Why do you hate
when you could do
so much better?

This Poems Story

My husband spat out some hateful words, he was trying to sleep and I was fretful of fear because of a bad dream or something disturbing my usual peaceful sleep
