Why I Stayed

"Do you want to break up?" He asked.

As I blankly stared at my phone screen,
Feeling nothing at all,
I realized that I could answer anything
And still not feel a thing.
It was based off of whether or not
I wanted to change my daily routine.
If I wanted to wake up and no longer have someone
To text 'good morning' to.
People stay because they're afraid of change;
And maybe that's why
we're still fighting for a worn out love.
I hate to admit that I enjoyed him
Just as much as I didn't,
But young love always turns out tragic.
And with that in mind,
I replied:

"No, I love you."
