Winter Wind

A chilled wind
Raking the quiet grove
The land shivers
Singing out
The dark days come

The mother tree
Mourning her children
Lost to the dark soil
Wails to all
The dark days come

The rushing water
Trapped beneath ice
Pressing to be free
Shouts unheard
The dark days come

The lonely grey skies
Abandoned by
The fleeing birds
Softly Whisper
The dark days come

The mountains, tall
Capped with white
Deserted by all life
Rumble Slowly
The dark days come

The world
Barren and empty
Racked with cold
Calls
The dark days come

The dazzling snow
Resting in sheets
As the sun rises
Shines brightly
And brings a message

Where there is dark
There must also be light
