Winter’s Song

Sunlight dims
While the nights grow longer
North winds rage
While the sunlight falters
Snow falls deep
While the winds whip faster
This is winter's song
A melancholy melody
Harsh and crisp, the notes ring clear
A frenzied, frantic symphony
Unbridled, feral, and severe
This is winter's song

Ponderous snow
Pond in ice
Pondering thoughts
Despondent life
A breath of spring
Only but a dream
Yet, here the flowers bloom
And the snow leaves
but whispers in memories
To an end has come winter's song
Only to return at autumn's call
An everlasting cycle, lifelong
Winter's song returns after fall
