Wisdom Speaks

I once soared,
Roared like waves on the shores
Then was marketed in stores, they
Used me, beat me, cheat me,
Leave me
Alive, then let me lie
Drumming, humming, strumming
My own strings and things
Clipped my wings--I no longer sing
I prance and glance around at others' defensive stance
Give me a chance to sing my song
Long and strong for the throngs of
Feeble people, peeping at me through the peephole
Spying, lying, crying, sighing, dying
Minding everyone else's business
But their own
They call themselves "grown"
But they've never known
What it's like to be
Then they would see that unlike me
They are all truly free
And I bound by bones
Alone
It's not easy being smart; I am wiser than the brain
And I
Am just a broken heart
