Wishful Thinking

It seems as though I'm drowning,
When I'm surrounded by hard ground.
The whispers of innocent people
Are screaming all around.

Where is the peace so longed for,
Has it wasted all away?
"Please let the violence end,
And let us live as one," I pray.

They say nothing is impossible,
But it's getting harder to believe.
This image of a perfect world
Is beginning to deceive us.

Life is too short to worry,
To be unhappy or to pout,
And someday, maybe someday,
We can force all this evil out.
