With Words

My tongue starts a fire
A fire that slowly destroys a love
Words I could never take back
Once the match is lit
Words that ricochet,
I empathize with agony,
As I stab you with my double edge sword
Words that pour out of my mouth,
Like blood from a womb
Yet words unintentionally, intentional
They speak a silenced truth
Nonetheless they take away, and also give too much
The flame of my careless words engulf the place we once stood
Yet suffocating all sparks of passion that once were
Why do I choose to light my fire, under the one I love the most?
Forgive me, for setting this fire,
I could only watch as it burns,
Burns it all away
