woeful forest

the snow floats down,
embraces the frosty forest
the tides of darkness
ridden by a dauntless night
draw a heavy curtain
to block away the blinding sun

gloom seeps from every branch
yet a young girl finds peace
among the forbidding pines
she walks softly
treading lightly
crystalline flakes making
a home in her damp hair

limbs embrace her
as she sinks,
or rather is engulfed
by the black nature
of a unforgiving forest
