Words from a Dead Man

Just as any other day:
Live, breathe, eat, drink, pray, and love.
I never would've thought it would end this way.
Heck! I hadn't even made it home yet!

But I was on my way,
It had been another late night.
I'd been minding my own business,
Walking down the road to home.
At least that was my plan...
But in a few minutes, I'd be where I truly belonged.

I never looked back.

And my body collapsed.
Did she not hear my screams?
She didn't feel my pain!
That body of mine? That's funny. It didn't even look like one.

The world was passing by,
I was pronounced dead at the scene. Nothing could be done.
I didn't get a chance to say good-bye.
"I'm sorry for leaving," is what I'd like to say.
"I love you all and will miss you,"
But I'm gone. never to return again.
