Words of Prey

By

You prey on my every visible weakness
A spotlight, exposing my flaws with pinpoint detail
I stand alone and isolated
No ally to protect or befriend me
Lacking mortar to bind and hold my foundation securely

How can one person leave such a perfect path of ruin?
A tornado easily ripping trees from their roots
All I dream and desire in life
Become annihilated by the constant barrage of insults
Words that crack and erode my long forsaken confidence

Nothing is more harmful and demoralizing
As the feeling of inferiority
To be invisible and for granted
Shown no regard or compassion
By the one individual that you love the most
