Words of Prey

You prey on my every visible weakness
A spotlight that exposes my flaws with pinpoint detail
I stand alone and isolated
No ally to protect and befriend me
Absent of the mortar to bind and hold my foundation securely

How can one person leave such a perfect storm of destruction?
A tornado easily ripping trees from their root
All that I dream and want in life
Has become annihilated by the constant barrage of insults
Words that crack and erode my long forsaken confidence

Nothing is more harmful and demoralizing
As the feeling of inferiority
To be invisible and taken for granted
Shown no regard or compassion
By the one individual that you love the most
