Work Hard, Play Hard

I wanted to go out and play
To do so, there was only one way
To do whatever Mother would say

Once the chores were done
It was time for some fun

Now deciding on what to do
Ideas, I had a few
But in the mood for something new

Toss the pigskin, shoot the rock
Ride our bikes around the block
Not paying attention to the clock

Diving into the pool
Not thinking about school
Building something without tools

The sun beginning to set
Our bathing suits still wet
Young minds start to fret

Our names being called from afar
Walking home since we have no car
Arrive late, hear Mom scream rawr!

So I got to go out and play
Thinking about the adventures of the day
Because I did most of what Mother would say
