Would I Could

Hardy mums and pumpkin seeds
Call, "Winter's coming near!"
Remains of summer fall from trees
The lake shines crystal clear

A rippling fire grapples with
The wood laid in its path
Devouring the last vestige of
My own internal wrath

Oh would I. would I.
Would. I could. be better than this state...
Of human born. of human made.
Of human. must abate.

Would I could. the fire be.
To leap and dance and play
Destroying all the particles
That hap to chance my way

I'd lick and taper. rise and fall.
Consume all in my reach.
Gaining traction. raising steam.
All boundaries would I breach.

Until, my all consuming reign
Had laid the landscape bare.
And those, who'd look. one glance. would know.
The depths of my despair
