Would You Like This New World?

By

I wish you had been here through this isolation,
this never ending quarantine;
wish your brother had these months with you,
that your mother had you two under the same roof again.
i wish you had hung on,
because i think you would like this new life,
new world.
a physical mask to represent your concealed hurt.
i won't pretend like I knew you well,
but from the depths of me,
i wish you had survived the atrocities of the old world
so you could experience the new one;
and, perhaps,
You never would have wanted to leave.
