An unwelcome visit from this plague,
and the toxic hate it brings.
Rip the shelves clean, bare with dust
leave the fear to the rest of us.
Education paused at once,
for we are at great risk.
Growing reports on every platform;
Instagram, a breaking news channel.
Lock up people in their home-
the place once cozy, now a cell.
Begging, praying for some food,
but what do we get?
Elderly and children, those old and young
beat in public and filmed.
Savagely robbing us of our lives,
just when will this epidemic stop?
Hateful stares at the color of our skin,
why can’t we wash it away?
End the violence,
end the discrimination,
for we are not the virus.
