Yellow Brick Road

The life leaves her eyes,
As she starts the yellow brick road
Onto her new life.

With her head in my hands,
Her body becomes limp,
And I start to weep.

The tears drip off my lashes,
They roll down my cheeks
Then fall into her fur.

I wipe the tears,
And more pour down my cheeks
As I shut her eyes.

A small whimper escapes my lips
As I say goodbye
Along with my father.

She starts down the yellow brick road,
Leaving her current path
To start a new life.
