Yesterday’s Loss

Yesterday you said you hated me,
Yet today you weep for my loss.
Yesterday you told me you never wanted to see me again,
And yet today you are here watching me lay still.
I understand that your heart is broken.
I understand that you have lost a friend,
But please do not weep for me.
For I can no longer dry your tears,
I can no longer heal your wounds.
I am watching over you,
So please turn around.
Turn around and see me.
See that I have not left you.
I wish that I could dry your tears.
I wish that I could hold your hand.
Why won't you turn around?
Why can't you see me?
Old friend I am right here.
Do not weep for me.
