You

They asked me,
"What's it like losing your happiness?"
I sat and thought for a moment
Back to the day you left
All the tides of sadness I felt consuming
My mind and body,
I sat there in that spot for what felt like an eternity
Until the words slowly began to come pouring out
Like the rain fell down the window
Slowly rolling until it hits the bottom of the glass
I looked to them
With tears in my eyes
And I said,
"It's like you're drowning every second you're alive
It feels like you can't breathe
No matter how many breaths you take
Because the water slowly fills your lungs
Until you can't breathe anymore
So you just let it consume you
'Cause what's the point in fighting to breathe when the water's too deep?
