You are

You are like Maya Angelou's song
that flung up into the heavens
You are my peace when I am the opposite of strong
The face of a lowly peasant
You are the glare from my stare
into the beautiful sky's reflection
This world that I see is fleeting to me so
Let the nation's receive your message
Heavy eyes with a soul that cries
in the loneliest of deserts
Open wide my heart of pride
And sweep the bitterness that is ever present
Let's run let's sing let's dance let's cry
Tomorrow we shall bow our heads to a new morning sky
