You Are More

You're not the words of others.

You are your own person. for years
you have believed that you were the names your father called you
the words that jammed through your heart
like sharp daggers.
"Whore." "Slut." "Tramp."

You're smart. You're kind. You're funny.

You tend to believe the models on the magazine covers
that scream at you through the glossy pages
giving you unrealistic expectations of beauty.
"Fat." "Ugly." "Not good enough."

You're beautiful. You're Loved. You're worthy.

You are not what you have been called
not what you have been labeled.
You are who you are.
