You Are New

We look through poisoned eyes
at a poisoned world and wonder
what went wrong,

when upon the hills of green and
by the glistening streams, the wind
through trees, sang her enchanted song.

In the moments of joy, the sun danced
his jig upon faces in awe,
as they lie in vivid meadows,
laughing in the wonder of it all.

All nature prays release from constant pain,
of being trapped in the confusion
of forgetting her proper place.

Tricked by the illusion of plenty
by what is full of emptiness,
our hearts, on puppet strings, became obsessed.

Remember all, from which rock you were hewn.
Hear this all creation: You have been made new!
