You Left Me

My heart was beating like a drum,
Threatening to pounce out of my chest.
I was gasping for air,
My lungs failing to retrieve oxygen.
My mind was a race track,
Except it wasn't close to being an oval.
A left hand held securely around my waist,
Holding myself together.
It was as if I were to let go,
I would shatter into a million pieces.
I could feel my emotions leaking out of my eyes and mouth.
You said that you would stay.
But you didn't.
Well, maybe you need to start making promises that you can keep.
Now, here I am, sitting helplessly,
My heart is glass, and you're just breaking it.
