You Need to Hear It, Not Read It

A hobby since I can remember.
I use to walk through my high school with a book full of my poems.
In class I would try to decipher;
between the good and not so good poems.
Poetry is like a sneak peek into the poets mind.
With words, thoughts, and ideas only the poet can define.
Not saying I was a future Maya Angelou.
However as a poet I knew my value.
Yea I know a poem doesn't always have to rhyme.
Hear not see my words line after line.
I write for fun; I do this for leisure.
I write for myself; I'm a self pleaser.
What do you know of Emily Dickinson?
How she expressed her thoughts of hope as a bird with feathers.
Or Tupac Shakurs meaning behind every lyric he wrote;
or did you see not hear his words;
underneath his bandana and leather.
It's so many words in our language that can be put together.
All it takes is a complex mind; with time.
A pen and paper.
Thinking outside the box.
My mind; is my poems creator.
