You Shut Me Out

My heart is pained and heavy.
Within it I've built a levy.
Trying to keep my thoughts and feelings reigned in tight.
Knowing to express them would start a fight.
All my life I've never belonged.
I've watched others be accepted and oh how I've longed.
Will this be the moment? Will this be the place?
Then everyone accepts me until they no longer notice my face.
With you I found laughter.
With you I belonged.
I finally had family.
But now that's gone!
You took them away.
You shut me out.
You passed your judgement.
Then tossed me out.
One day you'll realize how wrong you were.
You'll long for my friendship and remember you shut the door.
