You Walk by Me in the (library)

I see you-
A surge of idiotic hope
My whole being electrified-
You walk by.
My heart, swollen, punctures and deflates.

You look at me-
Confusion.

You talk to her-
Envy in its greenest form.

You look at me-
I pretend to study, pretend to ignore
You: how do you, have this effect?

You leave-
Fatal disappointment, longing, disgust.
I lift my head, deep breath-
I continue on
Reading.
