You Weren’t There

I don't know how I don't know why
but what you've done to me
hurts me more than words can explain
something so simple i've asked for
something so simple i've longed for
but was it too much to ask for you to be there
through all the times I fell along the way
feeling I couldn't get back up again you were suppose to be one
the one to encourage me to get back up again
through the tears I've cried over the years
the one who held me in their arms
when my dreams were shattered
through all the times I felt lost you were suppose to be the one
the one to find me but was it too much to ask for you to be there
I didn't want a simple phone call
I didn't even want a letter or a visit
but what I simply wanted most
is that I just wanted you to be there
but time is something you can't make up
you were suppose to be around to teach me the way of love
the true sacrifice of someone who cares
but for you not being here throughout the years
you've done the worst thing possible
anyone could do to hurt someone in the worst way
you've left me with scars
that no one can heal
