You’ll Miss Me

You'll miss me when I'm gone
re-read every word I wrote
in hopes I can feel it wherever I am
and will come back to wherever you are
I'm taking off
I'm running away
to something more than what
we are
we were
we should have been
could have been
Because we were never made to win
Like a love letter full of sin
a long stare too bold to look away
too timid to pull us in
our unspoken secrets and unwelcome demons
loom
in dense tension
like static noise in a crowded room
You'll miss me when I'm gone
re-read every word I ever wrote
in hopes I can feel it wherever I am
like that love letter I left in your mailbox
Those long stares we shared
Because we were never made to win
I'm taking off
I'm running away
I will feel you wherever I am
