Your Eyes

your eyes, they only see the good,
they never "blame" or "shame" or "should"
you see beyond the battered scars
and forward press through iron bars
and fences barbed around my heart
you ventured skillful to the part...
the baneful corners of my soul
the dark, deep secrets yet untold,
your fearless searching to uncover
wealth discovered by no other,
for no one took the time to delve
so long ago this child was shelved,
In isolation she was found
by one whose love did more abound
yet more than those who said they cared,
but left her still alone and scared...
what kind of love is this that came
and even stayed despite the pain?
You calmed the tumult deep within
and gave these dreams new life and then
You lifted this child off the shelf
and saved this woman from herself.
