Your Heart Is Home

What did it feel like to love you?
It is like my heart is home for the first time, with just one look in your eyes.
I hold your gaze as if it is the oxygen keeping me breathing.
Sometimes I wonder, if in fact, it is.

I didn’t mean to feel this way about you, I never meant to fall.
But your eyes told me stories about my future,
and your spirit held me, before your arms ever did.
In your eyes, I see every lifetime in which I loved you.
I see all of the nights, where I would stare up at the sky,
and wonder if anyone like you existed.
You exist, and I know, that your heart is home.
