Your Opinion is Silence

YOUR OPINION IS ‘SILENCE’
QUARANTINED IN THE MIDWEST

You say race is too divisive and your opinion on these matters is silence. You yell the N word 5 times in a conversation because you think it’s your civil right to “not give a fuck” and they’re “just words” yet the second you’re labeled a racist- words matter again because that’s not who you are.

You claim that the biggest issue is black on black violence, say they have worse neighborhoods, say it’s more of a norm for them- but you claim to not see color.

You claim a mother concerned for the life of her child of colors future is “attention grabbing” because racism is “not that big of an issue.” In one conversation you go from calling the child a black child, to calling him a half black child, to calling him a quarter black child. But you do not see color and race is irrelevant. You give him different degrees of race to negate his claim to being black as if the less black he was the less of an issue he would be -meaning you were more in the right. You stay silent because you don’t have an opinion. You yell the N word 5 times in a conversation because it’s your freedom of speech. You claim a mother concerned for the life of her child of color is attention grabbbing because racism is not that big of an issue.

You say that you have no opinion on black lives mattering because it doesn’t effect you. Yet you are angry that your silence is questioned. You aren’t silent you yelled the N word 5 times in a conversation claiming freedom of speech and that the words don’t matter because they don’t hurt YOU.

You think white people are at a disadvantage. Yet you are allowed to stay silent. People of color speak up for themselves using their freedom of speech and you’re angry because there isn’t a problem. You yell the N word 5 times in a conversation because it’s your freedom of speech and words don’t matter. You think white people are at the disadvantage. You are choosing to stay silent though- while you know that opinion is wrong and even though you think that opinion is wrong.

You claim the title “white trash” and think that means you are oppressed too. Your race was never kept out of public schools but you claim you are white trash so you’re oppressed too. You can dress up and hide your class- where as a person of color is unable to hide their blackness. But you’re white trash so you’re oppressed too. The Supreme Court never had to add amendments to clarify that your rights were included because it wasn’t implied when the original documents were written. But you’re white trash so you’re oppressed too. You can choose any county in the US to go on vacation and bring your white family and consider it leisurely and exciting. Many places would not welcome the same size family of color with the same enthusiasm- and that family may see the same vacation as stressful and maybe even dangerous. But you’re white trash so you’re oppressed too.

You say this country as a whole doesn’t have a race issue- you’re saying we shouldn’t be grouped into categories because we have individual choice. But it’s okay to group white people because you see them as oppressed. You generalize and say black on black violence in general is the bigger issue but you say assuming things based on race doesn’t happen. You say by tearing down confederate monuments we are ‘erasing American history’ but the history being made by taking a stand against the racism being glorified should be silenced and erased. You say we shouldn’t be grouping us into large groups like ‘America’ so shouldn’t the individual communities be able to decide for themselves what historic figure they want in their town square? Or is it the confederacy you wish was still there.

You don’t want to get into it and you don’t want to educate yourself on the issues because it’s too divisive. Yet you knit pick pieces of the reality out that suit your current viewpoint and toss the rest. You don’t want a conversation. You want to yell the N word 5 times in a conversation because it’s your freedom of speech. You want to feel attacked and attention grab because you are being victimized as a white person. Nobody is attacking you. If you aren’t racist there is no reason for you to be so worked up. But you aren’t racist, so you aren’t worked up. You want to stay silent but feel like you are being made a villain by doing so. While you go home and yell the N word 5 times in a conversation. But your opinion is ‘silence’

You don’t want it to be an issue that drives friends and family away- but you refuse to listen- driving friends and family away. You think of yourself as more aware, updated, and realistic than family members who are on the far right yet you behave and think in the exact same manner as them. You assume racism is loud, aggressive, and in your face- when it’s been whispering in your ear your entire life. You assume a racist is an evil person. You assume by being called racist you are losing value as a human being. You don’t want to be called racist. You aren’t racist. You scream the N word 5 times in a conversation because it is your freedom of speech.
Your opinion is silence?
