You’re My Poem

before you all i loved was poetry.
now your name is a poem
I whisper in my mind.
when i'm talking about you
your name slides off my tongue
like soft serve and
my mind lights up
with little red fireflies.
once, i was reading a book
of poems in my car
and didn't find any
as beautiful as your name.
so i fumbled around for a lipstick
and scrawled your name
on the last page
and signed it.
when i see you i taste
light champagne and
can almost feel your worn sweatshirt
and i fall for you
all over again.
you remind me of
deep purple sunsets and
soft late night jazz and
late night car drives
with the windows down.
your name is a poem
I love to write,
every night,I pull out a pen and
write your story with stars.
